Who Is Taking Over Heath Ledger’s Role In DR. PARNASSUS?
When Heath Ledger sadly passed away, a lot of people were wondering what was going to happen with his “last” movie, Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, which had just started filming, and more specifically what was going to happen with the role that Heath Ledger was meant to be playing. Would it be recast? Would the film just stop production? etc etc.
Well, according to AICN, the question has now been answered as apparently we are not only going to get to see the work that Heath Ledger had already done for the movie but then, due to it dealing with magic and alternate dimensions, he will change into not one but three different actors.
And who are these three actors? The first, and one of the first people I heard mentioned about taking over the role, is Johnny Depp which when you think about it is an obvious choice as he just kind of fits this style of movie and he has worked with Gilliam before and I’m sure his work, which is always excellent, will add to a fitting memorial to Heath Ledger.
The other two names involved are not quite so obvious though. Well, not to me anyway!
Next up is Jude Law. Now I’m not so taken with this one, as sometimes Law annoys the hell out of me, but he is capable of fine acting.
But the third name is pretty unexpected. Honestly, I really wouldn’t have imagined him in this kind of movie/role. Who am I talking about? Why, none other than Colin Farrell!
Are you as surprised as me?
I just hope that all the luck is with Terry Gilliam on this one as it would be a real shame if this went the same way as The Man Who Killed Don Quixote!
So are you excited by this casting? Are you happy that the movie, which sounds like a fantastic story, is still in production or do you think they should have just shelved it?

Ugh. The whole situation is just…ugh.
I got faith Gilliam can pull it off. Lord knows he needs this one.
Maybe these things keep happening for a reason. God is trying to tell him something, but the dude is too stubborn to listen.
What, some God isn’t a fan of Terry Gilliam? Do you think he’s still pissed off about Monty Python’s Life of Brian??
I dunno, but no one has that much bad luck unless there’s a reason, methinks.
That was Terry Jones who direct Life of Brian. God has nothing to do with this it’s El Diablo, or Loki the Trickster God.
The man made Brazil.
Yeah, I know it was Jones who directed it while Gilliam dealt with the art direction side of things. I just meant because of his involvement due to him being a Python! Man, Brazil is a great movie, though, isn’t it?
He’s such a great director with the shittiest luck. Though word is he may be able to go back do The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, so maybe his luck is getting better.
Also, Wyv you get that e-mail I sent about the new Frank Henenlotter movie?
I did, and I’ll be writing about it as soon as possible. Would have been today but work was mad-busy!
