WATCHMEN Trailer Online

Yeah yeah, I know we’ve already covered this in the comments (thanks for the link Grundy!) but I was on a long weekend this weekend and didn’t get a chance to post this when I would have, and I’m damned if I don’t want this to get the widest release as possible - but considering it’s showing in front of the cinematic titan that is The Dark Knight I think that has probably already happened…..

But I digress. In March 2009 we’re going to see something on cinema screens that a lot of people, myself included, didn’t think we would ever see - a movie adaption of Alan Moores’ stunning graphic novel Watchmen, which is being brought to the screen by director Zack Snyder who has already given us a decent remake of Day Dawn of the Dead and the enjoyable adaptation of Frank Miller’s 300. And judging by this teaser trailer he is making a fantastic job of bringing Watchmen to the big screen.

A lot of the trailer really does look like it’s been lifted wholesale from the comic - which is stunning in itself - and it looks like it should be a visually stunning cinematic experience!

Can you tell I’m excited? When I got the chance to watch this early on Friday morning I must have watched it about 4 times in a row, completely dumbstruck. If Snyder can deliver on what he’s promised here then we are really in for a treat when this hits the cinema.

Go see Dark Knight in IMAX so you can see this trailer on the big screen. It is STUNNING in IMAX.

Snyder directed the Dawn of the Dead remake, the Day of the Dead one is utter, utter shit.

It is a great trailer, I got it downloaded onto my computer.

And after watching it in HD a thousand times, I sort of fell in love with the Smashing Pumpkins song playing in the background, so I went to look up the lyrics. The lyrics almost perfectly match every single shot in the trailer(even more so if you’ve read the graphic novel), and now I love it even more.

At :42 when Laurie drops through the roof: “the pale princess of a palace cracked”. If you’ve read the novel, you know what this is getting at.

At :58-1:01 when you see Laurie walking down the stairs you hear “and we are flesh and blood” followed by the shot of Dr. Manhattan where you hear “disintegrate”.

Those are my two favorites. This thing looks really great, especially Dr. Manhattan. Man, he looks awesome.

Snyder is good at picking music, from all the songs used in Dawn of the Dead, the 300 trailer and now this.
