TRON LEGACY Visual Effects Concept Footage
Last year, the 2008 Comic-Con was wowed when, out of the blue, Tron 2/Tr2n was suddenly revealed through some early visual effects footage. That footage quickly made it’s way online for all of us who were not lucky enough to attend the convention.
Now, at this years Comic-Con, Tron Legacy (as it’s now known) was shown once again – again using that visual effects footage from last year, but this time it’s been improved (and was even shown in 3D at the convention!) and I have been given lots of viewing options to share with you. And we’ll get to that soon enough.
Tron Legacyis set 25 years after the original and, currently, this is the synopsis:
TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
As well as Jeff Bridges returning to the role of Flynn, Bruce Boxleitner is also returning to reprise the dual roles of Alan Bradley and Tron.
Now, before we get to the remastered footage, I want to share three pictures with you which were taken at the Comic-Con panel.
The first two show what looks like an updated Recognizer, or Reco, which in the original Tron was used by the MCP’s army to hunt down and capture programs.
OK, so while that’s pretty cool looking – it’s nothing on this 5th Generation Lightcycle, which I just love!
Right, I’ve kept you waiting long enough I suppose, so here’s the links to the new footage. Now, remember this is purely a visual effects concept, so chances are that this scene won’t even make it into the new movie, but at least we can get a real feel for how the movie is going to look:

High Definition:

So what do you think? I think it looks pretty damn sexy. I just hope that the movie doesn’t turn out to be more style over substance as the original Tron is one of my favourite Sci-Fi movies ever!

Im extremely shocked at this movie. I had no idea it was going to look this good.
If you watched the first one (and liked it)…and then you watch this trailer…youll want to see it
Especially after you see him get up from the bike and walk over to the other guy and you hear the music
“Holy shit! Tron!”
I want to see this in the big screen
I THINK, that they should tell you in which movies theyll show the trailers, people will just watch the movies to SEE the trailer. Id buy any movie ticket to go see this trailer…and if its a bad movie ill walk out
Same thing happened with Star Wars in i think 1999 when episode one came out, a shitload of people went in to see whatever movie just to see the trailer
I think it would be a great idea to let people know that.
I went to see Superman Returns 5 times with different people JUST to see that badass spiderman 3 trailer
Thats awesome!
