TRON 2 Rebooted?

According to rumours floating around the interwebs, it seems like the on-again off-again sequel to Tron may well be a step closer as director Joseph Kosinski (who has just been hired to helm the remake of Logans Run) is in talks to take the helm of the movie, which is being touted as the “next chapter” of the 1982 original.

If you ask me, this is great news! I love Tron. I think it rocks. And that’s not just because I am a computer geek – it’s just an amazingly realised movie. This isn’t the first time that a sequel has been talked up, in fact there is a video game called Tron 2.0 which was used to see if there was enough interest in the property for a movie released not that long ago.

But does this one have a chance? I have to be honest and say I hope so. Tron is the kind of movie that almost demands a sequel – and it’ll be interesting to see how much the computer world changes with the CGI technology we have now.

This next chapter will be written by Lost writers Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis and be produced by the original movie’s co-writer and director Stephen Lisberger.

And what about the director? Well, Joseph Kosinski, who has only directed commercials up till now, actually looks like he’d have the right vision for the movie. Go to his website and check out the Work section and tell me he wouldn’t be a great choice for this movie.

We’ll just have to wait and see how this pans out.
