TINTIN Back On!
After more stops and starts then Kristina and I consumating our relationship, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s Tintin is back on the go once again, as the pair are in talks with Paramount and Sony to partner on a deal to make two films (and, as EmpireOnline mention, perhaps a third).
Which is interesting in itself, because when this project was first announced it was done so as a “trilogy” with Spielberg directing the first, Jackson the second and them guesting the third movie out to another director who they would have surrogated. Now, it looks as if they’ve had to “compromise” in order to get Tintin back on the go. Spielberg and Jackson compromising? Surely not? But surely so… the third movie is now “tenative”!
The deal will allow the movies to be released jointly bt the studios, with Paramount covering the US and some other English-speaking territories and Sony the rest of the world (it’s not clear which category we fall into in the UK). Spielberg had hoped to start shooting in the autumn, but the delays over financing have led to the chosen lead, Thomas Sangster (that horrid lad from Love Actually who “learnt to love” through the power of James Cameron’s Titanic), becoming engaged elsewhere. However, the first film, a 3-D motion-capture ”event, should still be ready for a 2010 release, according to Empire.
