The 2nd ASPEYA 2008 Are Nearly Here!
Ooooh, we’re heading to that time of year again…. Yup, ladies and gentlemen, it’s BACK! The 2nd ASPEYA (Annual Stale Popcorn End Of Year) AWARDS 2008 will be ripe for publishing in the first week of January!
So I thought I’d give you, dear readers, the chance to start planning your contributions - unlike last year when only ONE of you submitted your selections! First of all, why don’t you familiarise yourself with 2007’s winners and losers [Volume 1 - The Reader's Vote, Volume 2 - Kristina's Best & Worst of 2007, Volume 3 - Gazz's Best & Worst of 2007, Volume 4 - Kristina's TOP 25 of the year and Volume 5 - Gazz's TOP 25 of the year] and then make the leap to see what criteria we’re looking for you to ‘fill in’ and send over to us.
Wyv chose not to take part last year and, with him taking a back seat, it’ll just be Kristina and I again this year but at least that’ll be in keeping with 2007’s articles and you can compare and contrast to see what we’re loving and hating year by year. Asides from the Top 5, it’s ONE nomination per category. Movies have to have had a release within the UK and/or the US between January 1st 2008 and Decemeber 31st 2008. They’ll have to have had a big screen release too. So, sorry Scorpion King 2, leave quietly now! All contributions need to arrive with me via January 2nd 2009, sent to undiscovered_genius@hotmail.com with the subject header of “ASPEYA 2008 - READER’S VOTE’ and we promise to try harder and arrange some sort of prize draw, like we suggested last year but never managed to pull off, for one lucky contributor.
Small print: Hazmat - we’ll disqualify the living fuck out of you if your submission carries so much as ONE mention of Gwyenth Paltrow, or any other variation on her name! Yes… I know she was in Iron Man, but come on, that ain’t no justication for a Best Actress nomination!

hey ill do an educated pick! i wont put my love The Paltrov as best actress because i dont think she was…shes my FAVORITE actress…but not the best…(omg i would devour her till i pass out)
but then again…the actress list isnt that big…i mean nichole kidman and kate blanchet are the only 2 actresses that i consider to be really really good.
(im NOT SAYING women cannot act [kristina] im saying i just dont have such a huge list for females then my huge list with male actors)

Yes Hazmat, you take the categories and (aside from submitting your Top 5) you choose one person or film to represent your choices and then they are all added together and I work out the leads and publish the listings, so yes, you send them to my email address before the deadline.
PS you should check out a few of the links from last year. SPIDERMAN3 got its ass handed to it!
Oh man, another year…gone!
It was a damn good year, and I still have a screening of Australia this Thursday, a screening of The Day The Earth Stood Still in two weeks, and that laugh riot Clint Eastwood movie Gran Turino comes out on my birthday(and the day I graduate from college).
And Hazzy, I agree with you about the shortage of good female actresses today. The VAST majority of them are just around for tits.
And one more thing Hazzy:
As much as I give you shit about it, I do admire that your crush isn’t some typical Hollywood starlet slut with her tits billowing out of her dress all the time, but a classy lady. Says a lot about you that you go for that type of woman.

and i wish i could give my female vote to kidman or blanchet but they really didnt do anything this year (indianna jones???and kidmans not doing anything this year other then australia…)
well i like enjoying movies…i enjoyed ghost rider and tron and daredevil..i dont have to say it was great or horrible…i like enjoying them. fantastic 4 wasnt good but i certaintly didnt regret paying for it…spiderman 3 was also worth 10$..i think people got turned off by his dancing…but i dont really get into it that much i just enjoy them. but i do get into them when theyre like WATCHMEN or TDK…thats a different story
and you guys should know im a totall sucker for blande/red heads with freckles. so gwyneth is like… !!!!!
okay. im done….i know all of them but i wont send them until december…
in other words…till AFTER punisher war zone…just in case i need to adjust my “best scene” one or “worst writters” one
