Superbowl Trailers: CASPIAN; SEMI-PRO; IRON MAN; JUMPER etc

So this past weekend was the Superbowl and, as is tradition, a load of trailers for upcoming movies played during the ads. Which, thanks to the wonders of the internet, you’ll find below:

First up is Vantage Point, the Matthew Fox / Dennis Quaid / Sigourney Weaver / Forest Whitaker starring Presidential assissination movie. When I first saw the trailer for this movie I was interested but not sure if it’s that high up my radar.

Next is Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, the new Martin Lawrence “comedy” about a talkshow host who leaves L.A to reunite with his family in the Deep South. I’m really not interested in this, but if it floats your boat then the trailer is below:

Moving swiftly on we get to 88 Minutes, the new Al Pacino movie that see’s Pacino trying to solve his own murder with the last 88 minutes he has left. Sounds a bit like D.O.A to me, but might be worth watching.

Now here’s something a little more interesting. A new trailer for Wanted, the James McAvoy / Morgan Freeman / Angelina Jolie starring comic book adaption about a young man who discovers he is actually a super-skilled assassin. And it really does look stylish as hell. But then what would you expect from the director of Nochnoy Dozor and Dnevnoy Dozor? Check out the new spot at the movies official site

What’s the most anticipated comic book movie of 2008? Chances are that it will be The Dark Knight but Iron Man has to be running a very close second. And this latest trailer, with more glimpses of the suit and overall coolness of the movie, sells it even more. Check this trailer out NOW!

The first Narnia movie, while it was alright, wasn’t all that. And I haven’t really been anticipating the sequel. Still, if you are then check out the TV spot for Prince Caspian at the movies official site. For me it’s really just a little too derivative of Lord Of The Rings

And then probably what is going to be the cutest movie of 2008 got a walk out with Pixar’s Wall-E. This doesn’t really need anything else said about it. It looks cute. And Pixar still haven’t really done any wrong so this is going to be a hit. Check out the trailer here.

The rest of these movies each had a trailer shown that can be viewed on the Superbowl MySpace page. Well, apparently anyway. None of them worked for me but maybe you’ll fair better.

Semi-Pro

I’m not the best judge when it comes to Will Ferrell movies – I just don’t find him that funny! Still, if he floats your boat then his latest comedy about a coach-player for a basketball team trying to make their NBA dreams come true is probably right up your court. Me, I think I’ll pass.

You Don’t Mess With The Zohan

Yeah, I’ll admit I’m a pretty big Adam Sandler fan. And I really liked the trailer for Zohan so am quietly looking forward to this movie. And what couldn’t be funnier than a Mossad agent who want to become a hair dresser??

Leatherheads

A romantic comedy directed by and starring George Clooney about American Football in the 1920′s. Not my cup of tea I’m afraid, and as I haven’t seen the trailer I haven’t been persuaded otherwise yet.

Jumper

The concept is superb, and I really do intend on picking up the book this is based on as soon as I can, and I hope Doug Liman knocks this one out of the park as the first trailer was exciting enough. Still not convinced about Hayden Christensen but this might well be a fun popcorn flick.

“And Pixar still haven’t really done any wrong.”

    Amen on Cars.

And Ratawhooey put me to sleep.

And the Iron Man trailer was…eh. That last shot looked like it was from a damn video game. Seriously, there is no way that you can tell me that the last bit of that ad looked good. The CG was AWFUL. Man, I hope that was just a first pass and not the final product, because, DAMN…

Yeah I would also agree about the Iron Man Trailer, it looked “okay” but not great like Spiderman.

Off course I know spiderman wasn’t on this year’s superbowl ads, but with all the recent super hero movies, I am just saying is all! :D

Yes the last shot did look very much like a computer game (and I’m sure I saw something similar in the Iron Man video game trailer that was floating around) but at the same time I think it will turn out to be early footage.

As for Cars and Pixar, honestly I do think that Cars did what it was meant to! While I didn’t particularly like it my daughters did so as far as a childrens movie goes I’d consider that a success. And as for Ratatouille I still haven’t seen it so I couldn’t comment one way or the other! ;)

Thank God they didn’t advertise any of the Something Movie Movies during the Superbowl commerical breaks!
