Ridley Scott Directing MONOPOLY Movie. Seriously.

When I read this news, I had to check my calendar to make sure it wasn’t an April Fool’s Joke.  I really cannot express just how stupid this idea is.  Ridley Scott, a director that I have a great amount of respect and admiration for, is now officially signed on to direct the Monopoly movie.  You read that right.  Monopoly.  The BOARD GAME.  Not only did some genius have the brilliant idea to make a movie out of a board game, but they’ve gotten Ridley friggin’ Scott to direct it.  A board game movie gets the Black Hawk Down guy?!  What next?  David Lynch’s Candyland?  Sam Mendes’s Clue?  How about Bryan Singer’s Trivial Pursuit (aka Superman Returns)?!  Stupid, stupid, stupid!  I cannot believe this crap got greenlit!  Do not pass go, do not collect $200, DO NOT MAKE THIS MOVIE!

We did report on this a long time ago when it was first rumoured, I know, coz I wrote the article, but I’ll be damned if I can find it on the search engines.

I reported it as a “wacky” ‘can you believe this shit’ sort of thing – Kristina has had the rather unenviable task of reporting it as “fact”

Her line “How about Bryan Singer’s Trivial Pursuit (aka Superman Returns)?” That piece of genius/funny/biting shit right there earns her, justifably, a place alongside yours truly as being VASTLY goddamn unappreciated!

You mentioned the rumor in passing in your article about Nottingham, which I believe is in the related posts in this piece.

Did I? I could have swore I wrote an article about it? I must be going ****in senile! Excuse me!

Anyway, it wouldn’t have mattered, mine still doesn’t have (or wouldn’t have had) the “Trivial Pursuit / Bryan Singer” zinger (see what I did there?!?) in it, so yours is INSTANTLY superior!

Ridley makes great movies so even though i don´t understand a movie about an old board game, i will probably end up seeing it.
