QUANTUM OF SOLACE Theme Tune Online Now For Your Listening Pleasure!

As one of the small minority who actually really digged Chris Cornell’s opening effort for Casino Royale, maybe I’m not entirely qualified to comment on the ‘quality’ of this per se but… The Alicia Keys / Jack White opening song for Quantum of Solace, Another Way to Die, is online now and can be found here. I… erm… well, I thought it was ‘alright’ when I first heard it. Then I thought I kinda liked it the second time. I’ve listened to it a third time, and I think I actually hate it in fact. All in all, I don’t really know what I think of it.

All I do know is this: 1. The thing I like best about it is the fact that there’s distinctive traces of the Magnum PI theme tune in the background if you ask me and 2. I’m just bitter because THIS is the song the producers should have been going with and they bloody well know it!

I’ll be totally honest, I heard this on Radio 1 this morning and it sounded bloody terrible. Seriously. After Chris Cornell’s excellent tune for Casino Royale (yeah, I liked it too) they honestly thought it would be a good idea to just use a song that sounds just like pretty much every other Bond song?

    Sheesh.

I might not be the biggest White Stripes fan in the world, but I would have thought Jack White could have come up with something better than this!

Still, could have been worse – it could have been Amy Winehouse! ;)

I think they should have gotten Neil Diamond or Barry Manilow. But then I think EVERY ****ing film needs more Diamond and Manilow!

Not that I wasn’t serious just then (I was) but they should have got Meatloaf man. He would rock the ****ing credits right open on something like this. A tune like ‘I’d Die for You And That’s The Truth’ would have been awesome. Cornell showed that. This is just BLAND!

Barry Manilow does James Bond? Have you thought of doing a ‘guilty pleasures’ type piece for a music site Gazz? My vote is for Alan Partridge.

Barry Manilow FOR every film soundtrack, man. Seriously!

Play “Looks Like We Made It” over the start or end credits of ANY James Bond flick. You’ll see what I mean?

    ;)

Yeah I know what you meant. Sorry, whenever I think of Manilow I always think of Not the Nine O’Clock News –

It’s alright, they should have gone with Joe Cornish’s proposed theme song.

Grundy, for some reason the comment you wrote on this has disappeared from this thread and I don’t quite no why. All I will say is that the Joe Cornish song you speak of IS linked to within the article ;)

It disappeared ‘cos it was stuck in moderation – sorted now.

I deleted some spam comments from the thread. I thought I’d pulled his comment too! Thankfully not!

    I finally listened to this.

Not impressed, but honestly, I hate all of the Bond songs save for Diamonds Are Forever.

They could have done SO much better then this!

Worst bond song ever, Im a big bond fan and honestly thought there hadn’t been a bad song until this. I also thought that Chris Cornels bond song was the best one yet apart from Live and Let Die, by wings. (Not guns and roses bad attempt).
