I got my hands on a late stage draft of Oliver Stone’s upcoming George W. Bush biopic, entitled W, and I have to say it surprised the hell out of me. Namely because, for me, it read like a full on satirical comedy and not a heavy ‘portrait’ piece in the style of Stone’s last movie of this ilk, Nixon.
Anyhoo, The Hollywood Reporter (no link provided because we’re on strike or something ha ha!) is stating that Richard Dreyfuss is joining the cast – Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Banks, James Cromwell, Ellen Burnstyn, Rob Cordry, Ioan Gruffudd, Jeffrey Wright and Thandie Newton – as Dick Cheney.
Inspired casting don’t you think? Dreyfuss – said to be a bit of an unbearable c**t in real life – is masterful at whatever he lays his hands to when he wants to be, so this could work well. What do you lot think?
