New Pics From Aranofsky’s THE WRESTLER
This film has been slowly, slowly, slowly building itself a strong footing on my “must see radar”. I’m always interested to see Mickey Rourke stop with these “character pieces” and go for the full-blown “come-back” job, headlining some worthy movie. I was a big Darren Aranofsky fan until he fucked me over with The Fountain. And Marisa Tomei is my new “I’ll watch her in ANYTHING” after seeing her sublime performance in Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead.
Now first-look pictures of Aranofsky’s new film, The Wrestler - the story of a retired wrestler who is trying to eke out an existence on the independent circuit - can be found here (keep scrolling down) and with this, next year’s The Fighter and the upcoming Robocop “sequel”, it seems Aranofsky is moving into “genre pictures” in quite a clever, interesting manner.
Alternatively, he could retitle his Robocop re-do “The Robocop” and suddenly reveal his masterplan - that he has been secretly building a franchise all along and that The Wrestler, The Fighter and The Robocop were mere chapters leading up to his grand-finale, a megabudget underdog fight-fest called The Smackdown in which The Fighter, The Wrestler and The Robocop face off against each other in a fight to the death and…
… Sorry, sorry, sorry! I have never drank from Starbucks before! I don’t know what came over me!
