New Behind The Scenes Clip From THE INCREDIBLE HULK
I still think that they waited too long to really start the hype machine rolling for the new Edward Norton starring movie about Marvels not-so jolly green giant, The Incredible Hulk, but at least they have finally gotten the ball rolling, not only with the trailer but also a new “Behind The Scenes” featurette which gives us a little bit more of a look at the movie.
Now, bearing in mind I haven’t watched this with sound (don’t ask) I think it does look like it could be an interesting movie, but I still feel that in a very packed summer, and being released the week before a certain movie about a guy who dresses up like a bat, this is just going to get slaughtered at the box office. And while I am interested in seeing it I am in no way as hyped as I am for Iron Man, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull or even the afore mentioned The Dark Knight.

This movie looks SO bad. The trailer looked even more boring than the first movie, and I just don’t think Edward Norton is the right guy for this. I got a bad feeling about this.
But you know what, if it does bad, the fans will have only themselves to blame.
I get what you’re trying to say, but you can’t blame fans for a garbage film. I don’t get what is so hard about balancing action and a strong story. If anyone is to blame, put it on Ed Norton’s controlling ass.
Well, they wanted an all Hulk mad, Hulk smash film, and this one apparently will have it in spades.
Though what annoys me is all the shit talking about Lee’s Hulk, especially in that video. “The Hulk movie, you’ve been waiting for” **** you, Lee’s movie isn’t the abortion Marvel is making it out to be.
They’re going from an Oscar winning director to the guy who made, the Transporter movies, I don’t think they have a right to shit talk Lee’s movie.
Just wondering, but how do we know that they haven’t balanced the action with a strong story (well, strong as far as a comic book movie goes!) yet? The movie hasn’t been released yet, so there is no way of telling how it is going to be for the action/story telling quota!
I agree with you about the Ang Lee version, Grundy. I actually like it but because it tanked big style it really does seem like Marvel are trying to distance themselves from it as much as possible!
I just want to chime in on this, being one of those people who really didn’t like Ang Lee’s version of the HULK.
I’m intrigued to see this and I thing we’re all being a little hasty like Wyv says. Edward Norton, for me personally, has a habit of really bringing a degree of class to proceedings when he truly “invests”.
I’ve heard things and seen bits and pieces of Tony Kaye’s “version” of AMERICAN HISTORY X and my assumption is that Norton did a great job in the editing room there to make out of the material what he did.
The re-writes on his own character in THE ITALIAN JOB remake, despite the fact that he was there under contractual obligation, punched it up.
And I’ve heard truly fantastic things about what he has brought to the table for the upcoming PRIDE AND GLORY.
I’m willing to give his “version” of THE INCREDIBLE HULK a try with an open mind.
What truly pisses me off though, even though I personally didn’t like it, is – just like Grundy said – just how savage some people are towards Ang Lee in his original vision of the HULK.
What people seem to be forgetting is that Lee made a presentation to Marvel/Universal about his intent for the film, he worked with James Schamus, Michael France and John Turman on retooling parts of the screenplay – much to the approval once again of Marvel/Universal and, no sooner had he previewed his first cut of the film, then Marvel/Universal spokesmen were out there singing the praises of Lee and Avi Arad kept talking about Lee’s “fantastic, brave and unique” vision etc. etc. etc.
Then they went and released the film and it underperformed (it didn’t “flop” because it made nearly three times it’s money back as of present day – it’s just they’d greedily exceeded the amount they reasonably thought it would bring in) and, low and behold, they turn their backs on it, slag it off and speak even iller of it now that they’re making a second attempt.
But Marvel/Universal knew exactly what they were getting, they praised it all the way to release, and now they dismiss it as a peace of shit?
I didn’t personally like the film. It didn’t do much for me AT ALL in fact. But there were hugely commendable elements to it AND I’ve got a huge amount of respect for what Lee tried to do.
I guess the simple unarguable fact is that HULK fans don’t want anything more from a movie adaptation then smashing, banging, explosions, etc. and this is what they’re going to get.
Just watch, in a few months time they’re going to be complaining about how “empty” it was in comparison to Ang Lee’s version!
