Natalie Portman Is A SWAN!

evey_booksI have a lot of mixed feelings about Natalie Portman.  She’s a beautiful, classy young woman.  I loved her in The Other Boleyn Girl, but for the most part, she is a very bland actress.  I find her hype to be more spectacular than her.  She has yet to live up to this constant buzz that I hear about her.  I mean, come on.  Where The Heart IsAnywhere But HereMr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, one of the worst films I’ve ever seen in my life?  It’s been downhill for her ever since The Professional, but she keeps getting hired for some strange reason.  Now, Darren Aronofsky has snagged her for his upcoming thriller Black Swan, which has a premise that sounds beyond stupid: a ballerina competing with a girl who might be real or a figment of imagination.  I presume Portman will be the ballerina.  This sounds like a big ol’ bomb to me, but maybe the sight of Portman in a tight leotard will bring in enough drooling fanboys.  Hope springs eternal!

Downhill since the professional? Wasnt that like her first movie? She was a kid in that movie…awesome movie btw

She ruled in V for Vendetta, at first i thought shed suck cuz eve was blonde in the novel and was a prostitute, but they pulled it off, it would have sucked if they made her a prostitute in the movie IMO.

I know it was her first movie. Problem is, she was so good there that everyone crowned her the next big thing, similarly to what happened with Kirsten Dunst and Interview With The Vampire. Neither one of them has come close to living up to their hype.

Yes, V For Vendetta was great, but watch that movie again. She isn’t anything special in that film, and any young actress could duplicate or better that performance, with a better accent to boot.

Have you seen Closer, Garden State or her small role in Cold Mountain? I thought she was great in Anywhere But Here, not a great movie but a good performance.

Grundy, you’re thinking of someone else.

Nardwuar, I have seen Closer and Garden State and wasn’t impressed by either performance. She honestly irritated the shit out of me in GS.

Well I was impressed, and I suppose that’s all that matters. ;)
