McConaughey Considering Magnum P.I?
Entertainment Weekly, through ComingSoon, have reported that Matthew McConaughey, the star of such movies as Sahara and Fools Gold, is considering the part of Thomas Magnum in Universal Pictures big screen remake of the popular 80′s ‘tec show.
He is apparently currently reading the script written by Rawson Marshall (writer/director of Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and will decide shortly if he wants to take the part that made Tom Selleck a Hawaiian-shirt wearing icon.
I still haven’t watched Sahara (as it sits on my steadily growing pile of unwatched DVDs – hey, it was cheap!) so I cannot say one way or the other if he would be good in the role but more worryingly for me is the fact that Rawson Marshall’s movies have been comedies. Magnum should not be a comedy! I have visions of yet another piss poor 80′s TV show “comedy” remake along the lines of Starsky & Hutch. NOOOOOO!
And I am just waiting for the comments to explode with our very own Gazz’s opinion on this possible casting……..
