MAX PAYNE Cast? Hang On….

There’s a Max Payne movie?? Right, so following on from the quite surprising news that there was still going to be a live action Tekken movie comes the equally surprising news that not only is there a movie being made based on the popular Max Payne videogames but that the lead character of Payne himself might have been cast!

Max Payne tells the story of Payne who is a cop haunted by the death of his family and trying to solve a mysterious series of murders, with scant regard for his own safety or “the rules”. He finds himself up against an adversary who is intent on destroying the city and Payne, of course, is the only one who can stop them.

The videogame was notable for the inclusion of a “bullet time” mode where you could slow down time and take out lots of enemies at once – and it was pretty good fun, but as a movie it does sound kind of similar to The Punisher. And do we really need yet another movie that relies on “bullet time” effects?

Anyway, the role of Payne is going to be filled by Marky Mark himself, Mark Wahlberg, and is being directed by John Moore from a script written by Beau Thorne. Honest opinion? I am really not bothered or interested in this. Maybe that will change when I see a trailer but I don’t think so at the moment.
