MAGNETO Expands It’s X-Cast List?

Much like the currently in production X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, which seems to be acting much like X-Men 4 considering all the X-characters that seem to be popping up in it, it looks like the planned Magneto prequel movie (which is being directed by David S. Goyer) is also going to be dipping into the X-character pool for some of it’s cast.

According to Latino Review, who were on a visit to the creature effects shop handling some of the work on Hellboy II: The Golden Army they noticed a pile of photo’s on a desk which, among other things, had a photo (probably computer generated but they weren’t sure) of ………

OK, so this could be considered a spoiler, and being a fair website owner, I’ll give you the choice - only continue reading if you want to know…..

…….a young Hank McCoy aka Beast with the notation of “Magneto” in the corner.

Taken strictly like this it could mean one of two things. The first is that they are thinking about including Beast somehow in the Magneto storyline. The second is that they are definitely including Beast in the Magneto storyline.

Personally speaking, I don’t think there’s that much of a problem with this. Well, depending on how they handle it of course. It could be that it’s just a small cameo - with Beast on a TV like his appearance in X2: X-Men United. Or it could be that during one of the later encounters between Magneto and Xavier that Beast is at Xavier’s school for Gifted Youngsters. Or maybe they’ll do something else with the character, who knows?

I just hope this doesn’t mean that they are going to be going down the path they seem to be treading with X-Men Origins: Wolverine as that movie seems to be really getting a bit bloated with X-Men characters (including, weirdly, a young Scott Summers somehow apparently) when all the movie really needed was Wolverine going berserker.

Of course, with out even a definite release date for X-Men Origins: Magneto apart from “2009″ we’re probably going to have to wait a little while for anything concrete about this.
