With any other actors cast in this, then it appears it would be the sort of flick that I really wouldn’t give the time of day to unless I was forced to attend whilst on a date or something. But it is testament to Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson that they make this material fly; they make it look really sweet and lovely and I’m going to check Last Chance Harvey out when it is released.

Thompson is a phenomenally good, natural actress (she is exactly what people wrongly give kudos to Kate Winslet for being, when she is not!) who can take cameo roles in stuff like I Am Legend and make them sing! Hoffman is also an incredibly talented actor who I also have a lot of time and affection for. He’s shyed away from leading roles (Mr Magorium aside) for the last few years, but it’s good to see him back up front and centre.

Check out the trailer for Last Chance Harvey here. It’s got some lovely little moments and Thompson and Hoffman sell this beautifully. One grumble though: whether or not he attends his daughter’s wedding is surely a third act reveal, no? Did that REALLY need to be covered in the trailer?
