Joss Whedon’s BATMAN?
I’m a “partial” (far from “die hard”) Joss Whedon fan. I adore Firefly and Serenity. Never seen an episode of Angel and dipped in and out of Buffy. I don’t have to be “die hard” to know that he’s a stellar talent though who hasn’t quite caught the big-screen break he deserves. Now, as much as I am absolutely flat out in adoration of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, even I have to say that I’m intrigued enough by what Whedon told MTV.com about his original attempt to bring a Batman movie to the screen. So intrigued that, once Nolan has finished bringing about his sublime “trilogy” (which he will!), Warners should immediately “reboot” and let Whedon have his crack. This is what he told MTV.com:
“Mine was a bit less epic [than Batman Begins]. It was more about the progression of him and it was more in Gotham City. He didn’t go to Tibet and meet cool people, but it was very similar in vibe…In my version, there was actually a new [villain], it wasn’t one of the classics — which is probably why they didn’t use it. It was more of a ‘Hannibal Lecter’ type — he was somebody already in Arkham Asylum that Bruce went and sort of studied with. It was a whole thing — I get very emotional about it, I still love the story. Maybe I’ll get to do it as a comic one day”.
What about a TV mini-series? Or letting Nolan hand over the reigns once he is done? I think it could be bigger then just a comic book. Either way, I very much like what he had in mind. So much so that if Christian Bale wants to losen his stance on only doing Batman movies with Nolan then once Nolan has finished his story arc, maybe Bale could stick around and make a fourth with Whedon?
I’m clutching at straws here, I know. This is likely to never happen of course. But if it did, and Whedon went “alone” on this I’m voting for Nathan Fillion as Whedon’s Bruce Wayne. Those two working together are the geekboys Scorsese/DeNiro.
What do you lot think?

Actually with the ‘Hannibal Lecter’ type, they could use an actually Batman rogue, Calendar Man. As he pretty much was written as Lecter in The Long Halloween and Dark Victory stories.
Could be interesting, but as much as I like him I just cannot see Fillion in the role of Bruce Wayne! But he would make an interesting villain, wouldn’t he?
And there are more than enough “minor” characters from the Batman Rogues Gallery that could be applied to this character that they wouldn’t have to go with a completely new character, really.
