Josh Brolin To ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK?
According to SPIELBERGNEWS.COM via /Film Josh Brolin, who is a superb actor but will always be a Goonie to me, is in the running to play Snake Plissken in the remake of Escape From New York (which is a movie without a director at the moment – which thankfully means that Brett Ratner is no longer involved!). Here (thanks once again to /Film for the translation from French to English!) is what SPIELBERGNEWS says on the subject:
“It is our scoop of the week. A source close to the production (if so) has assured us that it is now Josh Brolin to be in the running to take over the role of Snake Plissken in the remake currently in draft New York 1997.”
Now, I have to say, that this actually makes me feel a little better about the remake. Yes, I know that there isn’t a director at the moment (or at least, we haven’t heard about one) but now that Brett Ratner and Len Wiseman have both passed on the project, and the possibility of a quality actor like Brolin being involved, we could be on safer ground at last.
What do you think? Do you like the idea of Brolin as Plissken? Think he’s totally wrong? Part of me still hates the idea of Hollywood remaking it but at least Brolin seems to “fit” a little better in the role in my mind.
