JESUS THE MISSING YEARS Heading To The Bigscreen

Here’s a story that’s pretty much certain to get the moral majority up in arms. Drew Herriot, director of documentary The Secret, has been signed to make his feature debut with The Aquarian Gospel, which tells the story of Jesus Christ’s “missing years” between the ages of 13 to 30. And it’s going to be filmed in a high-definition format in a similar vein to 300.

The script has been written by John F. Sullivan and William Keenan (who is also one of the producers) and has been inspired by two books- “The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus The Christ” by evangelical preacher Levi Dowling in 1908 and “The Unknown Life of Jesus Christ” by Russian anthropolgist Nicholas Notovich in 1898. Now, I’ve never read either of these books but I am pretty interested in this project, which will show Jesus’ journeys from Israel through India, Tibet, Persia, Greece and Egypt as he encounters different creeds, classes and faiths and grows into the man who would be hailed messiah. This could well be an interesting movie. If it doesn’t get blocked at some point in it’s production……

As long as it’s got the big JC in it, it’s almost guaranteed to be a hit, if they pimp it to the church. Churches take MASSIVE groups to go see films concerning Christ. I remember when Narnia was about to be released, I was flipping through channels when I landed on a Christian channel, and they were talking about Narnia. I sat there for about an hour watching these people screaming at me to go see Narnia to prove to Hollywood that Jesus reigns supreme. No joke.

Maybe. But the whole “missing years” period of Jesus’ life tends to be a bit “touchy” for the church.
