Is Bale Really Going To Fight The Future? TERMINATOR 4 NEWS!
So when the news broke that McG was going to be in charge of directing duties for the fourth Terminator movie, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, I had totally lost interest in the franchise. But now, courtesy of Harry over at AICN, news has broken all over the web about a piece of casting that might make me have to re-evaluate my position. And if you have read the title of this post you might well be able to guess some of it – Christian Bale has been (supposedly) cast in the movie!
Now before you go off on a whole “Bale as a Terminator? WOW! The guys a fantastic actor! Just think what he can bring to the role of the “unstoppable” killing machine!” that isn’t the role he has been cast in. He has been cast as the hope of mankind, John Conner!
Here’s a quote from AICN about it:
Harry here. Just got off the phone with an extremely trusted source who has never been wrong before. he revealed exclusively to AICN that in the upcoming McG reboot TERMINATOR SALVATION: The Future Begins, that they have cast CHRISTIAN BALE as none other than JOHN CONNER.
So there you have it – “an extremely trusted source” that “has never been wrong”. It’s still very much an unsubstantiated rumour but considering Bale’s abilities and age we can surmise two things, if it’s true.
1) There is something about the role that has attracted Bale to it – he doesn’t tend to do movies that he doesn’t seem to think are worth it. He certainly isn’t a “paycheck” actor and with his role in the new Batman franchise I shouldn’t think he needs the extra cash!
2) We will be getting an older John Conner than ever before, which means we should be getting a Terminator movie that is set in the future, before they send back Kyle Reese and the T-800 to protect Sarah Conner and the young John Conner.
This doesn’t quite line up with the plot synopsis that they have over at the IMDB for the new movie:
After the drastic effects of Terminator 3, the story continues as John Connor and soon to be wife Kate Brewster realize they must create a resistance organization with Earth’s remaining survivors against the army of robots slowly being built up by Skynet. As they are building this resistance, one survivor happens to be a traitor in disguise, and has a secret that nobody would ever come to suspect.
As this seems to suggest that the movie will occur not long after the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines but maybe they have changed the direction of the new movie and are going to set it more in the future?
The other thing to consider is this though. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is being touted as the first movie in a new Terminator trilogy so would Bale really want to commit himself to another franchise of three movies when he is already committed to the third Batman movie?

I read this story on several sites, and refused to post the story here. I just hope to God this is false, because Bale working with friggin’ McG would be a horrible blight on his filmography. Just AWFUL.
the story here is not about Bale playing Terminator. Because I think Bale is one of the most talented actor working today and can pull off Terminator in his sleep. The bigger story here is WTF is Mc G doing directing Terminator. You might as well higher Michael Bay. Mc G will surely **** up Terminator.
