Stale Popcorn

Whilst I’m aware that “social networking” is allegedly “the future” and whilst I’m also aware that Mr Steven Spielberg loves to keep his finger on the pulse of what’s ‘happening’ (not THE Happening though – let’s not get confused with the meant-to-be-awful new M. Night Shymalan movie!), this did make me chuckle in a “wah da fuh” sort of way when my good friend James Porter sent me the links on this.

I’ll let the links speak for themselves but basically, in case you haven’t heard this already, Spielberg is said to be setting up a social networking site focussing “… on users who’ve had or who are interested in sharing paranormal and extraterrestrial experiences.”

Erm… Oh-Kay! Seriously, dude, you’ve got a directorial slate filled with The Trial of the Chicago 7, Interstellar, Lincoln and Tintin Parts 1 and 3. On top of that you’ve got producing jobs on When Worlds Collide, Transformers 2, Jurassic Park IV, along with TV shows “The Talisman“, “The United States of Tara” and “The Pacific“, not forgetting the excellent looking potentially sleeper hit of this year Eagle Eye… Do you really need to waste your time on this stuff?
