Would it have been $47,100? No? Well, it can’t have been you who won the recent auction for a cameo role in his next movie, Step Brothers. The auction was in aid of the Cancer for College foundation, which is a charity run by Farrell’s former frat buddy, who is himself a two-time survivor of Hodgkin’s Disease.

The winning bid was made by an anonymous Texan who was bidding on behalf of his son (I assume he was paying as well – otherwise the kid must have one damn big piggy bank!). The winning bidder told The Hollywood Reporter:

“I lost my mother to ovarian cancer a few years ago so I feel fortunate that my 10-year-old and I are able to participate in an event involving Cancer for College and Will Ferrell. It’s a great opportunity for him to both hang out with ‘Ricky Bobby’ and learn a valuable life lesson — that it’s important to help people who need help by whatever means you are able to do so”

Indeed. It might be a lot of money in my opinion, but well spent sir! Step Brothers is released on July 25th 2008.
