Well, I suppose the scathing reviews that The Spirit is garnering isn’t going to slow down Frank Miller on the directing front. It looks like he’s been tapped to write and direct an adaptation of the classic comic book Buck Rogers for Odd Lot Entertainment, the same studio behind The Spirit. I have yet to see The Spirit, but I can’t say that I’m looking forward to it. The trailers, ads, and clips look awful, and Gazz ripped it a new one a few days ago, so all signs indicate that this film is going to be a substantial disaster. I respect Miller as a graphic novelist, but just because you are good at one thing does not mean that you can go into something else. The Sin City “co-directing” experience has clearly convinced him that he’s the next big thing in directing, but I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid just yet.
