And so it begins. With the release of Inception getting ever closer, more & more people are turning their thoughts to Christopher Nolan’s next projects – more specifically the third & final Batman movie that everyone hopes he is going to take the directorial reigns for & the Superman reboot that he is meant to be producing from a story written by David Goyer – and now courtesy of the Superman Homepage website we have our first rumour fir a director and it is none other than Chri Columbus, the director responsible for two Home Alone movies, two Harry Potter movies & the recent Percy Jackson & The Lightening Thief movie.
A source inside the studio has supposedly told them that an “offer has been sent out to Chris Columbus to direct the 3D Superman reboot for December 2012″.
This does reveal one other thing as well, which I suppose shouldn’t be too surprising, & that is that the new Superman movie will be yet another 3D affair.
The source went on to say:
“David Goyer really wanted to direct but nobody from either studio (Warner Bros & Legendary Pictures) think he’s good in that arena. He’s great at coming up with story and ideas, like George Lucas. It’s his execution where he’s weak which is why people like Chris and Jonathan Nolan and Guillermo Del Toro have had the best results with his scripts.”
Now, I have to agree with that statement but I really really hope that the rumour of Columbus taking charge of the next Superman are just that – rumours! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’s a bad director by any stretch of the imagination but I don’t really think he’s amazing either, and I really think he is wrong for the job.
But it has gotten me thinking – who would you like to see at the helm of the new Superman movie? And why? And what do you think of this rumour?
