Let’s stay with the world of video game to movie adaptions for the moment as it has been revealed that 300 writer Michael Gordon has been hired to adapt the hugely popular RPG video game Everquest into a movie, which is being produced by former Marvel Studio president Avi Arad.

To be honest this doesn’t fill me with enthusiasm. 300, which I did enjoy, wasn’t exactly filled with amazing dialogue and it was Gordon’s first screenwriting gig so……..

Just beware Mr Gordon – those Everquest fans can be a little unforgiving!

No news on plot yet but the only limit really is the mind of the writer as the RPG, which was the most popular videogame from 2000 – 20004 before being beaten by World of Warcraft, is set around the world of Norrath where players fight fantasy creatures and go on quests.

Sword and sorcery antics ahoy!

The only problem with these kind of movies are that they are, fairly or unfairly, compared to Lord of the Rings, which is a high bench mark to reach but at least it gives the makers something to aim for!
