Stale Popcorn

On the heels of this new pic of Gambit comes some more pics of the upcoming Wolverine movie, courtesy of Movieweb.  This great veiny one in the post is from that just-released Empire Magazine cover spread, while the link will take you to a gallery featuring a few new pics from the flick.  Now, the pictures aren’t bad, that Comic-Con trailer isn’t completely terrible, and I love seeing Hugh Jackman run around half-naked (or more)…so why am I still a little uneasy about this film?  The early word seeping from sources isn’t particularly good, but then again, I don’t always agree with critics.  I hope that the film is good for Hugh’s sake.  Being Wolverine and the Sexiest Man Alive aside, his career hasn’t really taken off like it deserves.  He’s an A-lister for sure, but most of his films aside from the X-franchise perform moderately or outright tank at the box office.  He’s such a talented guy, so I hope that he’ll be able to build a more solid career once he hangs up his adamantium.  Wolverine claws his way into theaters May 1st, 2009.
