DUSK WATCH Update

Timur Bekmambetov, the Russian director responsible for Night Watch, it’s sequel Day Watch and the forthcoming Wanted, was at the recent New York ComiCon and during a panel presentation with him the subject came up about Night Watch, Day Watch and the rumoured third entry in the series Dusk Watch. I warn you now, fans of the original movies, the news isn’t that good. Anyway, this is what Bekmambetov had to say about the third and final movie:

“[Wanted] is my Dusk Watch for now,” the director said during the panel, “because it’s really the same chance, a different story, but the same genre. Unfortunately I don’t know when Dusk Watch will happen… Let’s say this is Dusk Watch.”

Uh…..wha? Wanted being made, because it deals in kind of the same genre, means that we’re never going to get the final chapter of the Watch movies? I know that Wanted features a lot of the over the top style that was on display in Night Watch and Day Watch but that’s not the point! I am quite disappointed by this news, as I would have liked to have seen the final chapter for the Watch movies, but unless someone else takes them on (which I suppose is possible) it looks like we’re never going to get it.

loved nightwatch and daywatch so the news that duskwatch may never happen is a bit of a downer. i have to say though that duskwatch wouldn’t be the final part because there are four books that make up the twilight watch series (part four being final watch) but if they aint gonna make the last of the films then there was never really anypoint making the first two cos they aint telling the whole story
