DRAGONBALL Teaser Online Now!
I am going to have to say, up front and centre, that I know nothing of the Dragonball property that this movie is based on. Not a thing. All I do know is that every time we post something on the upcoming movie production of said property, the more cantankerous we are about it the more we get these little 14 year old squirts coming on to the site and trying to kick our asses in the talkbacks, as if we have called their mothers a whore or something. So… you know where this is going right?
Watch this, it looks as if that god-awful Eric Roberts/Holly Valance Dead or Alive movie has had sexual relations with that inept Bulletproof Monk flick, threw the resulting offspring down the stairs a few times and then ran it over with the car. Twice.
20th Century Fox? You must be SO proud of this. No wonder you’re desperately trying to ride the coat-tails of Watchmen huh? And Chow Yun Fat? What the fuck are you doing man? You were The Killer! You’re Hard Boiled! I’ve spent all this time forgiving you for Bulletproof Monk and you do this to me? Screw you dude!

Bwahaaaaa!
GARBAGE!
Damnit, you said what I needed to in only two words! :horny:
Wong while I’m a fan of Final Destination and his work on The X-Files (he’s done some of the best episodes). This just looks horrible, they seem to have cut out the inherent goofiness and the over the top violence that the show had. That said Stephen Chow should have directed it, it sure as hell would have looked better.
It looks like the exact sort of horrid mess that I’ll get harassed to attend via a press screening! I won’t be attending this though.
Life is too short. It looks like utter, utter shite!
I can’t wait to see this honestly, because if it’s as bad as that trailer looks, my review will be EPIC.
I don’t get, you’re going to see a movie that you know will be shitty. Why would you do that? But then again I’m weirdo in not watching movies I think will be shitty.
I’ve got to go with Grundy on this one, Kris. Why would you get excited about seeing this? Filleting a bad film is all well and good but you’d pay to see this? Seriously?
You’d give this your $$$ and assist in giving it a place on the box office tables?
So… at least I am coming to understand how you Yanks put MEET THE SPARTANS at #1
lol
The reason Meet the Spartans got to #1 was because people are stupid.
I don’t give money. I get in for free.
Still doesn’t explain why you’re willing to see a shitty movie. There are shitty movies on the Sci Fi Channel every weekend, I don’t watch them.
Go watch something good or something that has the promise of being good.
I’ve got to admit, I get sent (or at least invited) to a helluva lot of press screenings for films to review for this site.
I simply theorise that by the time I get in the car, drive up there, park, go in, make idle chit-chat with the critics from my local paper, get my bag of freebies and then sit down watch the film, get up, make more idle chit-chat as I exit, come out, unpark, drive home and sit down to write the review…
… is the film going to carry some degree of worth, some possibility of any quality whatsoever. Sometimes you’re shitting in the dark and taking a chance that you ain’t going to get it up your leg by attending something like DEATH RACE where word is mixed. Other times you know where the toilet is and you’re not going to miss the bowl i.e. a Martin Lawrence “comedy” or anything from the people who make DATE/EPIC/DISASTER MOVIE. So you don’t bother.
This, Kris, is definitely a case of “knowing where the toilet is”. LOL
‘Free’ is no excuse. A sexually transmitted disease costs nothing (well… unless you go with the people I go with, but their rate is quite competitive) but it doesn’t mean you WANT one huh?
Well, SOMEBODY has to bite the bullet…
No, not really.
I agree entirely. Why bother seeing something you expect to be rubbish, more than likely will be rubbish and could never be anything more than rubbish?
This looks like sub-par Power Rangers tosh, which really isn’t saying much! But then, were we really expecting any different? As for Chow Yun Fat – I can understand why he got involved. Dragonball, Dragonball Z & Dragonball GT are fantastically popular in the East, and Dragonball was “inspired” by a very famous and popular Chinese folk novel called Journey To The West (which was also the tale that inspired the TV series Monkey, by the way) and as such could well have been inviting to Chow Yun Fat to appear in a movie version.
Shame the movie version looks like it has turned out pretty damn bad! A shame as well as I actually quite liked the anime – I didn’t expect it to turn into a great movie but I was hoping that it was at least going to be fun. But judging by this trailer, I don’t think it will be.
Two things though:
1) Play this next to the trailer for The Spirit and The Spirit suddenly looks like it’s going to be fantastic!
2) One of the trailers I saw for this on YouTube finished with the words “The first live action adaption of the popular anime” (or something like that) – I don’t think so! There’s a lesser known Chinese live action adaption called Dragonball: The Magic Begins. That was pretty craptastic too, but I’d be interested to see which one actually ends up being better!
And if you’re interested you can check out the original trailer for that version right here – I have to say, it’s actually closer in look to the anime than the new version! Still looks crap, though.
Oh lar-de-dar… Look whose decided to show his face! Never writes, never calls, then turns up with one big epic talkback contribution!
We have feelings too you know! We’re not just whores to be used and abused… Well, I am but…
Seriously, good to see you back around these parts. Holding down the news fort has been lonely without ya!
