DIE HARD 4.0 DVD Release Details!

You’re all aware of my love for the Die Hard franchise yeah? If not, just check out my review of the fourth movie where I bestow an unhealthy amount of love on it despite it’s weak-ass third act! Well DVDActive.com pay mention to the fact that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the UK release of Die Hard 4.0 for the 29th of October, priced at around £19.99.

According to the site, the single-disc release will contain the theatrical cut of the film, while the two-disc ‘Ultimate Action Edition’ will contain a new extended cut and should retail for around £24.99. The Blu-ray release will also weigh in at around £24.99, but there’s no word on whether it will be the theatrical or extended cut.

For the full details on what is available on each disc then just click here. Personally, I’d be very interested in seeing what makes up an extended cut and whether that effects the immortal “Yippe Kayee Motherfucker” line but – as I was saying to Wyverex just this afternoon – most “Extended Cuts” (because we’re not allowed to refer to them in the marketplace as “Unrated Editions” here in the UK!) just have Extended Scenes and Deleted Scenes as a ‘special feature’ but rarely go to the trouble of putting them back into the movie (New Line are notoriously bad for this tactic!).

I hope this isn’t the case with the Die Hard 4.0 DVD and I’m tentatively excited to see what such a “cut” could bring – it’s still not going to involve taking out that “big rig versus fighter jet” sequence and replace it with something better though is it? ;)
