Stale Popcorn

I love Burton.  I love Depp.  I LOVE them together.  Having said that, I do require a breather between their collaborations.  I’ve barely gotten a breath in after Sweeney Todd and news has come out that their next film is pretty much set.  I’d heard whispers around the Internet that the two were attached to a remake of Dark Shadows, a 60s TV show that was apparently pretty popular, yet Ive never heard of it.  I didn’t really believe it since these two are automatically attached to any film project that is even remotely macabre.  Turns out this rumor isn’t just a rumor.  Collider had a chat with Richard Zanuck, the guy that produces the Harry Potter film series, and he confirmed that Dark Shadows is a go, with principal photography set to begin next summer.  I feel a little ashamed to say that when I first read this news, I thought “again?!” before I thought “yay!”.  I know these guys are BFF (Johnny is the godfather to Tim’s oldest kid), but this must be some kind of record for director-actor collabos:  Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Ed Wood, the upcoming Alice in Wonderland and now this.  They aren’t sick of each other yet?
