Del Toro Wants THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. Oh God Yes!
Guillermo del Toro has told the MTV movie blog that he is really interested in directing the seventh Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. He told them (and I quote):
“I’m definitely interested,” he insisted, “now that the movies have grown darker. They have a contrast between the gloomy existence of the kid and the world he’s exposed to. They have evolved into a really nice universe.”
A nice universe indeed. One that would fit in perfectly with del Toro’s faery tale sensibilities what with the quest for the wand that makes the bearer unbeatable, conversations with the afterlife and a climatic, apocalyptic battle between Good and Evil.
Being totally honest, now I have heard this I truly believe that the only way the seventh book can be turned into a decent movie (come on, you have to admit that there were some sections of the book that were boring as hell!) would be to give the reigns to a visionary director like del Toro. Just look at the world he created in the truly wonderous Pan’s Labyrinth and tell me that you think it would be a bad idea for him to direct the final Potter?
So come on Warner Bros. The man is there, waiting for your call. Hire him now!
