Can A TV Spot Make A Case For A HALO Movie?

Master_Chief_in_Halo_3I don’t know how many of you have seen the ad for the new Halo game, Halo 3 ODST, but when I saw this thing, I was stunned.  For starters, this thing is live-action, and it looks spectacular.  It really looks great.  Now, I’m not going to go so far as to say that this ad alone means that they are ready to make a Halo movie right this second, but at the very least, it gives me pause.  We all know that video game movies suck.  They ALL do.  But in this ad, I saw a glimmer of hope.  Unlike a lot of games, which are all flash and nothing else, I saw a story get told to me in under two minutes.  Imagine what they could do with two hours, a big budget, and a good director on board.  I’m not going to say with 100% certainty that a Halo movie is a good idea.  I still have issues with some ideas that I heard floating around.  There’s also the issue of Master Chief keeping his helmet on or taking it off (leave it on!), but for now, look at the ad and tell me if you think that this movie could be made, should be made, and if you’d see it if it looked like this!  And just so you know, yes I am a female and a Halo fan.  We do exist.

That commercial is EPIC. ****ing godlike. In fact once they see that fans are approving of this I think theyll speed up the process of this movie

Dont worry about the helmet being taken off Kris, we’ve got the script and he doesnt.

They did a GREAT job of making it a mystery who he is, like…they explain all the soldiers getting killed and being in war, and theyre scared even, and they sorta talk about him and we see him as a sort of machine from their POV, and its so badass because from their pov hes this War Dog and its cool.

But then as the story progresses you can see that hes human by the behavior and how he bonded with some individuals, especially that machine (or…USB drive, really) that talks in his head with a womans voice (**** i forgot her name).

My point is, the whole movie is basically the soldiers scared rough point of view…in which they see Master chief as a god in war almost, and master chiefs point of view, in which he goes from being basically a robot who only follows orders into a hero that ends up alone and heroically goes through the rest of the story but never is his face revealed.

Now, this^^^ means nothing because its a first draft, if they really do make this movie theyll make other versions, but still

And I agree if they decide to unmask him it would bomb

I don’t think ALL video game movies suck :P but the only thing I’m concerned about is that if they are able to convey the story within two minutes, why should I then go see the film? I already know what’s going to happen!
