Bruce Willis Cast In KANE & LYNCH & Another HITMAN Movie?
Adrian Askarieh, the producer responsible for the movie version of Hitman, which like it or not was a commercial success if not a critical one (grossing over $100 million worldwide) has been talking to Just Cause about the second movie in the “franchise”, a casting announcement for the movie adaption of Kane & Lynch and the progress on another video game to movie adaption, Just Cause.
So let’s start with Hitman 2. To be honest, the only details he really shared were that they are not sure if Timothy Olyphant will be reprising the role of Agent 47 and that the movie will not be based on the forthcoming Hitman 5 game.
Not much then, really. But I’m sure it will please someone that they are making a sequel.
So moving on, Just Cause which is based on the PC/PS2/Xbox game of the same name. And if you don’t have any idea about the game, here’s a small synopsis from Wikipedia:
..set on a fictional Caribbean tropical island called “San Esperito”, where the player works as CIA black ops agent Rico Rodriguez in a guerrilla war to overthrow San Esperito’s dictator, who may be in possession of weapons of mass destruction.
Again, Askarieh didn’t really have a whole lot to say apart from he was going to be making the movie independantly and that they are starting to shoot next year.
But now let’s get to the big news. The casting of Bruce Willis as Kane in the movie adaption of Kane & Lynch, based on the Kane & Lynch: Dead Men game for PS3 & Xbox360. The game, and I assume the movie, tells the story of the mercenary Kane teaming up with the schizophrenic & psychopathic Lynch to try and save his wife and daughter.
When asked how they managed to get Willis for the role of Kane, Askarieh replied “After Bruce Willis read it [the script], he called it one of the best action scripts he’s ever read, and Bruce is an expert in terms of action scripts because he’s read everything over the last 20 years.”
So that could mean that the script is actually going to deliver and we could (finally) have a decent game to movie adaption, which will be directed by Simon Crane (who is going to make his directorial debut with this).
So what do you think? Excited by the casting of Willis as Kane? Who do you think should play the as yet uncast (as far as we know) Lynch? What about Hitman 2 & Just Cause?
