Ben Affleck Is Coming Back To TOWN!
This is a cool little bit of news that seems to have completely slipped every one by but I managed to spot whilst hunting for a Choke poster for NotorietyH’s guest review. Now, I absolutely flat out adored Ben Affleck’s Gone Baby Gone, and I rate him as an actor (so flame me!) so I’ve always been interested to see what he would do next for his “difficult second movie”.
I would have loved it if he’d adapted Dennis LaHane’s Darkness Take My Hand (one of the best crime thrillers you’ll ever read, no shit!) as a sequel to Gone Baby Gone, but that was just a personal pipe dream I guess. Instead, it seems that Affleck’s next project is direct, rewrite and star in The Town, a dark heist-romance hybrid, for Warner Bros, that smells a little like the positively sublime Steven Soderbergh movie, Out of Sight.
According to reports:
“… Affleck will rewrite an existing script by Peter Craig with revisions by Chuck Hogan, who wrote the novel “Prince of Thieves,” on which the film is based. The story involves a high-tension love triangle between a female bank manager, a longtime thief who stole more than her heart and an equally smitten FBI agent trying to bust the crook and his gang before they can pull another big job.”
Sounds like it could be worth a look don’t you think? Especially seeing as Affleck has built up some real ‘fire’ after Gone Baby Gone. What’s your thoughts?
PS: Nope, it doesn’t help my championing of Mr Affleck when I go and choose a picture that makes him look a right tosser! Apologies!

That is true. It’s been in the making for quite some time now, following him as Senator and into his presidential announcement, right up to his victory so it should be great stuff. Norton is only producing it though.
And I think I am the only geezer on the planet who would love to see Affleck do a DAREDEVIL sequel!
oh dude he destroyed the role of daredevil…i loved that movie. but i still think they should have dyed his hair…
and there where rumors of a daredevil sequel a while ago but it wont happen.
They’re “re-booting” it, according to Fox!
