It’s Approaching That Time Of Year Again… 3rd ASPEYA 2009 *COMING SOON*
Evening All! …. Ooooh, how have you all been? It’s been ages hasn’t it? What? … That happened? Really? Whilst I’ve been away? Nooooo! You’re kidding? Oh. My. God.
Well, we must catch up properly some time soon eh? But, for now, let’s crack on with cracking on… Every year for the last three years I’ve been the man holding the controls on Stale Popcorn’s very own end of year “awards” ‘thing’ that we I lovingly call the ‘Annual Stale Popcorn End Of Year Awards’ … a series of articles made up of what I think are the best and worst of the year, what Kristina thinks and, most importantly of all, what YOU (our darling reader!) think. Then we conclude with Kristina and I picking, separately, our Top 25 films of the year… and from there the Comments Area becomes ablaze with flames of abuse from you within the Stale Popcorn community.
And we’re fast approaching that time of year already! So, think of this as your warning shot to start thinking about what you’d choose to go into each category – which are included after the ‘jump’ and get them emailed across to me in time to be considered!
What did you ‘crazy-cats’ throw down as your best and worst last year? Well… check this out! Another year, another bizzaro Twilight led massacre of the categories? Probably. But hopefully not!

Asides from the Top 5, it’s ONE nomination per category. Movies have to have had a release within the UK and/or the US between January 1st 2009 and Decemeber 31st 2009. They’ll have to have had a big screen release too. All contributions need to arrive with me via January 2nd 2010, sent to undiscovered_genius@hotmail.com with the subject header of “ASPEYA 2009 – READER’S VOTE’.

Forgetting someone? Like the bloke who pays the bills? So my opinion doesn’t count then?
I dunno, just because I haven’t submitted listings for this any other time you think I can just be ignored? Charming!
No! The Lovely Bones hasnt come out!
I mean, UP is the best movie so far but The Lovely Bones looks sooooo goood.
In the back of my mind I know nothing will be better then UP but TLBs looks so amazing.
And:
I dont think Twilight will be in every category again. Wasnt Robert Patingson the best actor last year?? xD

I think you should ban the Twilight related stuff if you dont want it spamming your ASPEYAs like you did to Gwyneth Paltrow (Wise move, i would have sent my GP vote from 98 different email addresses…you dodged a bullet SP..)
Typical – we ask for your inclusion the first year, you don’t bother Wyv. We ask for your inclusion the second year, you don’t bother. The third year we make the presumption you’ll not be interested … And you get offended!

Wasn’t that I didn’t bother……I just hadn’t seen enough “new” movies those years to actually make it worth any point.
Well, when i start the big correlation of it all i will shout you up to send me your stuff etc like i do with Kristina and you can join the party. Start thinking now then Ha Ha

I gotta sit down and make my list, too. I’m pretty sure that I know what my number one film of the year is…
I wouldn’t hold out too much hope Kris – the numbers are low, the closing date is tomorrow and the films selected will boil your nipples in fury!
