*NOW ENDED* WIN STUFF!! VEXILLE On DVD!
During it’s theatrical run Vexille was hailed by The Guardian Guide as a work of “stunning futuristic animation” and by Metro (London) as a ‘superior, elegantly nuanced sci-fi anime” and now UK fans of Anime can experience this film for themselves when it hits the shelves on 1st of September in a limited edition 2 disc DVD “steelbook” edition.
Directed by Fumihiko Sori and the creative team behind the groundbreaking CGI Appleseed anime, Vexille promises to push the boundaries of what we know with CGI animation, and is sure to be a hit with fans of anime. Although I am not a huge anime fan, I saw the trailer on one of the anime movies that I was sent to review a while back and I have to say, it did look very impressive indeed. Don’t believe me? Well, just check out the trailer below:
Looks pretty good, doesn’t it? Here’s the synopsis of the movie:
The year is 2077. A decade earlier, robot technology had become so advanced that the United Nations, concerned that further developments may lead to the ‘weaponization’ of the human body, passed a resolution banning the use of android technology. Choosing to defy the treaty in order to allow the mega-corporation, Daiwa, to continue its research, Japan became a lone, renegade nation effectively shutting itself off from the rest of the world. Isolated and shielded from all outside communication and satellite surveillance, with nobody having entered or left the country for ten years, Japan has become a mystery to all those living outside its borders.
Fearing that Daiwa may now have taken its bio-tech android programme to the ultimate extreme, a crack US Special Forces Unit is tasked with infiltrating Japan on an intelligence mission. Led by a determined, young female commander, Vexille, the unit hooks up with a band of Japanese underground rebels who have refused to conform to the dictates of the Daiwa Corporation. But what Vexille and her team uncover inside Japan proves to be far more devastating than anybody could possibly have imagined and soon they find themselves fighting a battle that will determine the future of all humanity.

Watched this a couple weeks back. Not as good as Appleseed or Ping Pong but a diverting sci-fi adventure with some very cool set pieces and melancholy moments.
Well worth winning in a competition! LOL
Okay then, on your recommendation I think I will enter this, just help me out James:
What is the name of the movie that Fumihiko Sori directed in 2002?
Come on, be a bud! Help me out
Uh…he did, in his comment.
Of course, you could have done it the easy way by going to IMDB.
Oh, and you can’t enter the competition - that would be a conflict of interest. :P
Spoilsport!
PS
I don’t even know what the **** I am doing in this talkback - I don’t even like this sort of thing!
Great movie, but us region 2 viewers got shafted, the steelbook edition only has the original japanese soundtrack with hardcoded subs. Were as the region 1 dvd got english and japanese with subs you can turn off. If I had of realized that I would have ordered the region 1 dvd.
