** NOW ENDED ** Win Stuff!! STRAIT JACKET DVD Competition!
I think it’s about time for another competition here on Stale Popcorn, and it just so happens that I have recently been given three copies of a new anime release, Strait Jacket, to give away. Nothing like coincidence, eh?

Already a big hit in Japan, STRAIT JACKET, the three-part, ‘steampunk’ action-horror OVA based on the popular ‘light’ novel series written by Ichiro Sakaki (Scrapped Princess) and illustrated by You Fujishiro, comes to DVD on 27th October 2008.
Directed by Shinji Ushiro from a screenplay by Sakaki, STRAIT JACKET is an action-packed and very bloody saga that will appeal both to fans of recent anime titles such as ‘Full Metal Alchemist’, ‘Hellboy Animated’ and ‘Buso Renkin’ and to those will a taste for ‘old school’ horror animes such as ‘Legend Of The Overfiend’.
Ever since 1899, science and magic have been allowed to co-exist for the benefit of mankind. However, the use of sorcery is strictly regulated, as those who overuse their magical powers risk turning themselves from humans into crazed demons. To minimise the risk, users, known as Tactical Sorcerists, must wear ‘Molds’, technologically advanced ‘strait jackets’ designed to contain the demon influences summoned when sorcery is invoked.
In the city of Tristan, the populace lives under the constant threat of demon attack, events often caused deliberately by terrorists. To protect its citizens, the city’s Magic Administration Office employs teams of Tactical Sorcerists skilled at fighting off demons. During an unexpected demon attack on a hospital, Magic Administrator Nerin Simmons, short on authorised backup fighters, is forced to resort to employing a lone wolf sorcerist known as Leiot Steinberg and his young half-demon, half-human associate, Kapelteta Fernandez. A man with a notorious reputation, Steinberg is tortured by the sins of his past and believes he can only find redemption in death. However, his talents as a Tactical Sorcerist cannot be ignored and Nerin decides to continue to use him, even if it means risking her job. But by accepting Nerin’s offer, Steinberg is putting more than his job and his life on the line – for if he continues to fight demons using sorcery, he risks becoming one himself.
